Hi! My name is Caitlin Schmidt. I’m a Health and Physical Education teacher and Head Fastpitch Softball Coach at Lanier High School in Sugar Hill, GA. I reside in Braselton with my husband Andrew and our fur children Ricky and Gibby.
On August 20, 2011, at the age of 28, my mother, sister and I had to say goodbye to my dad as he lost his courageous battle to ALS better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. On August 27, 2013, my sister and I were forced to say goodbye to my mom due to unexpected, undetected stage 4 small cell lung cancer. In that moment, our life changed forever. Numb by the instant change, I felt orphaned with and an absence of love. Through all of this grief, I’ve realized that I’m a survivor… and so are you! I’m extremely thankful for the opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors for November Smiles. Over the years, I’ve learned that it’s my mission to not only share my story but to help others grieving the loss of a loved one find light with a smile!
